Abstract
We are interested in developing a mathematical model of this problem with the ultimate aim of investigating analytically the relationship between the temperature of the electromagnetic induction tool (EMIT) and the production rate of the oil.
The purpose of this paper is to carefully analyse each of the physical processes in the full system of partial differential equations describing the problem and by making some basic assumptions, derive a simple set of equations that captures the main features of the system solved with an expensive CFD program.
We find considerable qualitative agreement between numerical results of the simplified model and those of the CFD program, which is quite remarkable considering their relative complexities.
